Children under 12 travel for free providing that they are accompanied by one paid passenger. The number of children travelling for free is limited to 4 per paid passenger. If there are more than 4 children travelling per paid passenger, any additional children must each have their own Child Ticket.

When travelling as a group (15 or more passengers), Group Tariff seats are reserved for the fixed price of € 1 for each journey for children under 12 years of age. The Group Tariff is the only tariff that guarantees reserved seating, as well as a significant reduction in the price of your journey. In most cases, the price per passenger is cheaper than for any other tariff.

Only a Group Tariff ticket entitles you to reserved seating.

If you have difficulties walking or standing up, the Priority Seat Card entitles you to a guaranteed seat.

Would you like to make your train journey more comfortable? Why not upgrade and travel more comfortably in first class!

Submit your request as soon as possible to ensure there are enough seats available for your group.

Accessible 24/7, our online booking service will soon process your order. Additionally, you will be sent a copy of your request by email straight away. The Contact Centre can be reached by telephone on +32 (0)2 528 28 28 , every day from 7 a.m. until 9:30 p.m.

The deadline for group reservations depends on the procedure for receiving the group ticket:

  • Pick-up by you at a ticket counter of your choice: request at the latest 7 days before the departure date
  • Sent by post: at least 12 working days before the departure date

It is possible to change the composition of your group:

  • before the tickets have been issued to the group:
    The group leader can request any changes through the Contact Centre who will update the reservation wherever possible.
  • It is possible to add more people to the group booking as long as there are still seats available onboard the train.
  • You can reduce the number of passengers in the group up to 5 working days at the latest before the departure date.
  • after the tickets have been issued to the group:
    The group leader can request changes at the ticket counter at the station.
    The number of passengers in the group can be increased or decreased by a maximum of 10 passengers. If passengers are removed from the group booking, the group must still contain at least 15 paying passengers.
  • Participants may be added to the group up to the date of travel, at the latest 30 minutes before the train’s departure. Additional passengers are not guaranteed reserved seating.
  • You can reduce the number of passengers in the group up to 5 working days at the latest before the departure date. Administration fees are deducted from the refund for the whole group and per single journey.

You can also cancel the group travel:

To do so, the group leader must request a refund or the cancellation of the group travel at the latest 5 working days before the departure date:

  • by telephoning the Contact Centre if the tickets have not yet been issued;
  • by going to the ticket counter if the tickets have already been issued. In this case, the tickets will be refunded minus administration fees for the whole group and per single journey.

In the event of a partial refund, the minimum number of 15 paying passengers required must be met, otherwise the Group Tariff is no longer applicable.

A Group Ticket is non-refundable:

  • if it was paid for in full or partly with a compensation voucher, an exchange voucher or a so-called “green cheque” (Ecocheque, Eco Pass);
  • if the request for refund or cancellation of the group journey is submitted less than 5 working days before the departure date;
  • in the case of partially used tickets;
  • in the event of theft or loss.

There are different ways of paying for Group Tariff tickets depending on how you plan to receive your tickets. In order to have the best chance of reserving your journey and being allocated seating, the group reservation must be made:

  • at the latest 12 working days before departure if the payment is made via bank transfer. We must receive the payment in our account at the latest 7 working days before departure. Tickets are sent by post at the latest 5 working days before the departure date.
  • at the latest 7 working days before the departure date if the tickets are picked up and paid at the ticket counter of an agreed station at the latest 5 working days before the departure date
