SNCB has competence centres specialised in maintaining railway equipment components.

These competence centres are spread throughout SNCB's central workshops and are specialised in overhauls and/or repairs of mechanical, electric or electronic parts.

SNCB works directly with OEMs to ensure the highest level of reliability.

Working from experience, SNCB regularly suggests improvements to component maintenance plans.

  • Complete overhaul of diesel engines (e.g. ABC, GM and Cummins) coupled with a test bench.

  • Pantographs for all types of electric locomotives.
  • Bogie carriers and engines for electric and diesel locomotives including measuring squareness, NDT inspection and structural repairs.
  • Wheel lathe fitted with the best equipment for chocking, shifting and machining wheels and axles, plus all necessary equipment for bearings and wheelset axle overhauls.
  • Electric transformers covering all power levels, able to overhaul chokes, regenerate oil or carry out in-depth repairs to tanks.
