100 years. The journey continues.
100 years of movement. 100 years of connection.
This year marks 100 years of SNCB-NMBS... That's 100 years at the heart of Belgian transport. It's played a key role in the country's economic and social life since 1926, and pursues a clear ambition: developing stable and accessible mobility for all.
Throughout the year, SNCB-NMBS will be running a series of activities to bring this anniversary to life. The months to come will be punctuated with musical and cultural events, and we'll also be opening the doors to two of our workshops to the public. It'll be packed full of opportunities to discover not just our company, but rail transport as a whole, as well as to share your experiences and join us in celebrating the things that connect us, both now and in the future.

A bit of history
SNCB-NMBS wants to continue playing this role in the years to come, even beyond 2032, when its public service contract with the Belgian state is set to expire. Not just in Belgium, but internationally, too. We face challenges that are as mighty as our ambition: to be a reliable and efficient customer-focused railway undertaking that plays a key role in mobility both domestically as well as beyond the Belgian borders.
Over the last century, SNCB-NMBS has connected people, towns, and regions across Belgium. This centenary is a chance for us to celebrate everything that trains have helped us achieve over the years, as well as an opportunity to cast our minds to the future.
With a staff of 17,000 people, SNCB-NMBS continues to grow to provide safer, smoother, and more comfortable travel. This symbolic moment is a chance to think back on our journey so far, and imagine where it will take us in the future.
We'll be shining a light on more than just the network's history: on this anniversary, we'll also be celebrating our staff, our passengers, and everyone who keeps it running, as well as all of the connections they help to forge each and every day.
We have a number of initiatives lined up over the coming year, under the tagline: 100 years. The journey continues.
