Expo Imperium Romanum
IMPERIUM ROMANUM
THE ROMAN EMPIRE THROUGH THE LENS OF ALFRED SEILAND
At its greatest extent, the Roman Empire stretched over an area that included more than 40 contemporary countries. Today, traces of that enormous empire can still be seen everywhere: from dilapidated ruins to impressively well-preserved monuments.
For 15 years now, Austrian photographer Alfred Seiland (b. 1952) has been recording all these remains. His idiosyncratic, colourful photos enjoy international recognition.
In an atmospheric setting, you will get to know the artist and 150 of his best works. They provide stories about Roman culture, architecture and history. They make you smile, dream and think. How do we experience heritage and how do we deal with it today?
The exhibition is also ideal for children. With an audio tour and the game 'Zoom In', they can easily discover the world of Alfred Seiland and that of the Romans.
