New purchase processfor the Senior Ticket
From now on, you'll receive 1 ticket per journey when you purchase a Senior Ticket. So, for a round trip, this means you'll receive two tickets. Whether you choose a one-way or round-trip ticket, the price remains the same: €8.50 in total. This is because a Senior Ticket always covers a round trip.

Are you over 65? Then you are entitled to enjoy return rail travel for € 8,50*.

  • one way or compulsory return on the same day
  • starting from 9 a.m. on weekdays (or anytime during the weekend)
  • to any destination throughout Belgium (not including border points)
  • 1st class comfort for € 18 

* Exception: travel to/from Brussels Airport-Zaventem

Valid period of the Senior Ticket 

Every day of the year

  • From Monday to Friday inclusive: from 9 a.m.
  • On Saturday and Sunday and on public holidays falling on a weekday: no timetable restrictions 
If you buy a Senior Ticket with Brussels Airport-Zaventem as the departure or arrival station, the Brussels Airport Supplement is automatically included.

The QR code displayed on your Senior Ticket will allow you to open the access doors to Brussels Airport-Zaventem station.

If your journey hasn't started yet, you can buy an Upgrade on our website, in the SNCB app, at the ticket office or at ticket machines in stations. If your journey has already started, you can buy an Upgrade on the train at the Onboard Fare.

The price of this additional single or return Upgrade ticket is calculated by taking the difference : 

  • on weekdays: between the prices of the 2 Standard Fare classes for the journey you are actually making in 1st class
  • weekends and public holidays: between the prices of the 2 classes of the 50% fare for the journey you are actually making in 1st class.

The price of the upgrade ticket is equal to or higher than the minimum price of the 1st class ticket.
