An exciting exhibition at the Gallo-Roman Museum
For sure you know the white marble statues from the time of the Greeks and Romans. In Ancient history, they were painted in bright colours from head to toe. This is what you can experience in a unique exhibition with dozens of reconstructions in colour. Images of emperors, warriors and gods. Video films teach you how these statues were made. You will also see authentic pieces from antiquity with their traces of paint.
This exhibition is very suitable for a visit with children. For them, there is an audio tour and interactive game applications, and a workshop where they will get creative with marble and paint.
The reconstructions were previously visible at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. In Tongeren, you will discover them in a new contemporary setting from 21 October 2023 to 1 September 2024.
