Homosexuals and lesbians in Nazi Europe - Until 10.12.2023
Get to know an unknown piece of history. In this expo, you will learn all about the oppression and persecution of homosexuals and lesbians in Nazi Europe.
For a long time, very little was known about the fate of homosexuals and lesbians during World War II. The exhibition 'Homosexuals and lesbians in Nazi Europe' brings to light the oppression and persecution in nazi-Europe. Under the Nazi regime, homosexuals and lesbians underwent a variety of fates. Some chose a life in exile, others led double lives. Nearly 100,000 homosexuals were registered in Germany. Between 5,000 and 15,000 of the homosexuals in Germany ended up in concentration camps, where most of them died. Lesbians remained outside the scope of the law in most of the regions. As a closing piece, attention is given to the evolution of the commemoration and recognition of the victims over time.
