Coronavirus: No more masks in trains
The authorities have just lifted the requirement to wear a face mask on-board public transport We are pleased to be able to see the smiling faces of our passengers and staff once again on-board our trains.
In practice:
- From 23 May, it will no longer be compulsory to wear a mouth mask on board our trains. It was already no longer required in stations and on platforms since 7 March 2022.
- Everyone is free to wear a mask or not, at any time, but it is still recommended for frail people.
- For international journeys, the specific measures of each carrier remain applicable.
This is good news for passengers of the SNCB and public transport in general. This measure follows the decrease in most indicators of the epidemic and the decision reached by the Consultative Committee, is a further step towards a normal travel experience.
We wish to thank all of our passengers who, for the most part, complied fully with this measure, for their patience and understanding. We also wish to thank our staff who were called upon to ensure compliance with this measure from the start of the sanitary crisis.
Trains offer a sustainable, safe and comfortable travel experience. As a social network of its very own, the train is a place of exchange where all the people who make up our society can meet and encounter each other. The end of the mask allows us to reinforce this exchanges and to make the most eco-friendly form of transportation the most pleasant one. It puts a smile on our faces and allows us to consider even more positively our future projects to improve your travel experience.
