Employer contribution
If you work in the private sector, your employer is legally required to cover part or all of your 2nd class Season Ticket.
Since 1 February 2026, the statutory employer contribution for commuting Season Tickets averages 70,48%. This means you only pay 29,52% of the price of your Season Ticket after reimbursement.
Even better: if your employer has subscribed to a Mobility Pack, you can travel home to work by train completely free of charge.
Where can I buy it?
The SNCB-NMBS App, essential for the Flex Season Ticket
With the app, you can:
- buy your Flex Season Ticket
- activate a travel day for each day you travel
- present your Flex Season Ticket when asked by the train manager
- check your train schedule in real time
Buying and activating a Flex Season Ticket
If your employer doesn't have a third-party payment contract, you'll need to buy and pay for your Flex Season Ticket yourself.
Don't have a My SNCB-NMBS account yet? Create one for free in the My SNCB-NMBS section of the SNCB-NMBS app.
To purchase your Flex Season Ticket in the app:
- Go to Purchase (pink button with shopping basket)
- Select ‘Other products'
- Open the ‘Flex’ tab
- Enter your departure and arrival station
- Choose the Flex Season Ticket that fits your needs (6, 10, 80 or 120)
- Pick your travel class (1st or 2nd class)
- Add any supplements for STIB/MIVB, TEC or De Lijn under the tab "Others"
Once paid, your Season Ticket is ready. You now have 6, 10, 80 or 120 of travel days for your chosen route.
Don't forget: on travel days, validate your travel day before boarding your first train of the day. Go to 'Purchase' and select 'Validate a day of travel'. A QR code will be generated in the SNCB-NMBS App.
Note: To use any supplements, you must have a personalized MoBIB card linked to your My SNCB-NMBS account.
Good to know: if your Season Ticket covers your home-to-work route, your employer is required to reimburse part or all of your travel costs. Contact your employer to check the applicable reimbursement conditions.
Does your employer have a third-party payment agreement with SNCB-NMBS? If so, you should contact your employer to obtain a Flex Season Ticket.
Afterwards, you need to activate your Flex Season Ticket (and any supplements for De Lijn, STIB/MIVB, or TEC) on your smartphone or tablet via the SNCB-NMBS app.
Two requirements:
- You have the SNCB-NMBS app installed on your smartphone or tablet. If not, download it for free.
- You have a free My SNCB-NMBS account. If you already have a personal My SNCB-NMBS account, there’s no need to create another one. You can use your account for both personal and professional travel. If you don’t have an account yet, create one for free via the SNCB-NMBS app.
How to activate your Flex Season Ticket:
- You’ll receive an email from your employer with a link to the SNCB-NMBS app.
- Link your voucher to your My SNCB-NMBS account under the Vouchers tab in the app.
- Activate your Flex Season Ticket and any supplements via the same Vouchers tab (see the tutorial at the bottom for guidance).
Note: You do not need to pay for your Flex Season Ticket when activating it. The cost of the selected Flex Season Ticket is billed directly to your employer. If your employer does not cover the full cost, you will need to pay the remaining amount via the SNCB-NMBS app.
And that’s it! You can now enjoy your allotted travel days on your selected route.
Important: To activate any supplements for your Flex Season Ticket, you must have a personalized MoBIB card linked to your My SNCB-NMBS account.
- Log out and log in again to start a new session and refresh your data. Your Flex Season Ticket should now be visible.
- Do you have a second account? Try logging in with that one. Forgot your password? Use "Forgot password"option to reset it.
The Flex Season Ticket is recommended if you commute to work 2 to 3 times per week.
If you travel more than 3 times a week on the same route, the Standard Abonnement is usually more cost-effective. If you travel less than twice a week, other products, such as tickets, may bea better option than a Season Ticket.
Fares depend on the distance of your journey, the type of Flex Season Ticket (6, 10, 80 or 120 days) and uour travel class (1st or 2nd class)
Using your Flex Season Ticket
Depending on your chosen plan, you Flex Season Ticket gives you :
- 6 or 10 travel days (in 1st or 2nd class), for the 1-month Flex Season Ticket
- 80 or 120 travel days (in 1st or 2nd class) for the 12-months Flex Season Ticket
During the validity period, you can freely choose the dates you want to travel, up to the number of travel days purchased.
To travel on a chosen date, validate one travel day in the SNCB-NMBS App before boarding your first train of the day. Your ticket, including a QR code and all necessary check elements, will be available in the app.
Once a travel day is validated, you can make unlimited trips on that date along your chosen route and in your selected class, up until the nightly train service interruption.
No, not if you return on the same day (or at least before the nightly suspension of train services).
Once you’ve validated a travel day on your Flex Season Ticket, you can make unlimited outbound and return journeys on that day along the chosen route and in your selected travel class.
To ensure you don’t forget to validate a travel day on the day of travel, we recommend validating each travel day in advance. If your plans change, you can still cancel a validated travel day up to the day before your trip.
You can use any smartphone or tablet, as long as the SNCB-NMBS App is installed. Simply log in with your My SNCB-NMBS account.
Yes, you can still cancel a travel day after it has been validated in the app.
- If the travel day was validated before the date of travel, it can be canceled up to the day before the travel day.
- If the travel day was validated on the day of travel (but before use), it can be canceled within 5 minutes after validation.
Once all your travel days have been used or your Flex Season Ticket has expired, you can no longer validate travel days. To continue travelling, you’ll need to purchase a new Flex Season Ticket in the SNCB-NMBS app.
If your Flex Season Ticket is paid by your employer, contact them to receive the necessary voucher or authorization to activate a new Flex Season Ticket.
