Are you self-employed and do you travel by train for work? Or do you have employees for whom you contribute to their commuting costs? Depending on how often you travel and whether you have staff, there are various solutions to help you organise your travel in a simple and tax-efficient way. Find out here which option best suits your situation — from occasional tickets to the Mobility Pack for you and your team.

1. I occasionally travel with single tickets or I buy a season ticket once a year

In this case, your ticket (whether physical or electronic) serves as valid justification for your accounts, even since the introduction of Peppol. It is therefore not necessary to enter into a contract with SNCB-NMBS for the sole purpose of justifying your travel expenses.

2. I regularly travel with single tickets or I buy several season tickets a year

For you, the Mobility Pack is the best choice for enjoying a range of organisational and tax benefits: it allows you to centralise your business travel expenses and save valuable time on administrative tasks.

As a self-employed person, you can take out this contract on a 100% basis. This means that you pay for the full cost of the products, but enjoy various benefits (see below).

3. I am self-employed and have employees

For your own travel, you must take out a 100% Mobility Pack.
For your employees, you have two options:

  • Mobility Pack 80/20: you are legally obliged to contribute at least 70.48% to your employees’ home-to-work train journeys, but for just an additional 9.52%, you can offer your employees completely free home-to-work travel. You then pay 80%, whilst the Government covers the remaining 20%.
  • Mobility Pack legal minimum: you pay the minimum employer contribution for home-to-work season tickets in the private sector (on average 70.48%) and your employees cover the balance.

Via our Business Portal, you can easily manage both contracts. This provides a real HR and administrative advantage.
